The Note 10+ is one of the best phone Samsung has to offer in 2020, only being outdone by the Galaxy S20. Some of its highlights include an incredible AMOLED display, outstanding hardware, consistently good camera performance, and excellent battery life.
There’s a lot going for the Note 10, but the removal of the headphone jack is a big change for the Note series and low-light images taken with the camera aren’t quite as strong as we would have liked. There’s also the annoying fact that the baseline Note 10 doesn’t have expandable storage.
The OnePlus 7T Pro is a mid-cycle upgrade to the company’s premium offering. Big enhancements, therefore, are limited. Coming on the heels of one of the fastest phones around, that’s not a bad position to be in. However, if it is speed you need, the OnePlus 7T Pro bumps up its processing prowess by using the absolute newest and most powerful Snapdragon chipset.
The Google Pixel 4 and Pixel 4 XL are great phones in several respects, but they misfire far more often than they should at this price point. The major sticking points are battery life and the reliability of some new hardware features, making them hard to recommend despite an out of this world camera, great performance and software experience.
*Note: The battery score here is based on an average of the two devices’ test scores. The Pixel 4 scores slightly worse, the Pixel 4 XL slightly better. At the time of publication, it was +/- 0.5 points.
The Pixel 3a is one of the best cheap phones because it doesn’t feel cheap, though its poly carbonate back does give away its price. This phone is also very light and compact, measuring 6 x 2.8 x 0.3 inches and weighing just 5.2 ounces. As someone who uses the hulking iPhone XS Max with its 6.5-inch screen, the Pixel 3a seems almost cute.
Samsung Galaxy S10e is a small smartphone worthy of your attention. Just about everything from the hardware to the software is a joy to use.If you’re looking for the best small Android phone right now (and can live with the crummy low-light camera and mediocre battery), the Galaxy S10e just might be it.
